About me
Hi, I’m Joanne. I am a qualified Person-Centred and Integrative Counsellor, and I work with adults and young people aged 16+. I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever is affecting your mental health and wellbeing.
My background is unique: I bring over 30 years of lived experience from working in the emergency services as a Detective Sergeant, Coach, and Family Liaison Officer. In these roles, I supported families through traumatic bereavements such as murder and suicide, and worked closely with officers navigating personal and professional challenges. These experiences shaped my understanding of resilience, trauma, and recovery, and continue to inform the way I practise as a counsellor.
I have worked with clients facing a wide range of issues, including trauma, PTSD, historic sexual abuse, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, grief, phobias, eating disorders, and the impact of life-changing events. My aim is to meet you with warmth and empathy, helping you feel truly heard while supporting you in building the inner strength to heal and grow.
