Common questions
What is workplace counselling?
Workplace counselling is professional, confidential therapy provided to employees as a benefit funded by their employer. Our service connects each employee with a named, consistent BACP-accredited therapist for a structured course of sessions. Not a helpline. Not a signposting service.
How is this different from an EAP?
A standard EAP typically directs callers to self-help resources, with usage rates of around 3 to 5%. Our service provides genuine BACP-accredited therapy with a named therapist, personal matching by our Director, and fast access to a first appointment. Your employees receive therapy, not a referral elsewhere.
Can my employer pay for therapy in Manchester?
Yes. Many Greater Manchester employers fund therapy directly for their staff through our session block model. Your organisation purchases a block of sessions upfront and employees access them as needed. If your employer has told you this benefit is available, contact us directly. No HR involvement is required.
Will my employer know I am having therapy?
No. The content of every session is strictly confidential. Your employer receives only anonymised, aggregate reporting on block usage. They will never know who has accessed sessions or what was discussed.
How quickly can an employee be seen?
We aim to confirm a named therapist and a first appointment within days of the Therapy Advisory Call. There is no waiting list.
How do I make the case for this internally?
This is often the most important question. The short answer: the numbers do the work. Deloitte's 2024 research puts the cost of poor mental health to UK employers at £51 billion per year, with presenteeism alone accounting for £24 billion. A Team Block at £1,920 costs less than a single day of lost productivity across a small team. We are happy to provide a one-page summary of the business case to share with your finance team or senior leadership. Just ask when you enquire.
