About me

Hi, I'm Ian. I have experience helping people from diverse backgrounds who are struggling with life issues that are bringing them down and holding them back. These issues include anxiety, depression, loss, bereavement, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, and life-threatening illness. I also work with adult clients with ADHD and autism who are finding it hard to cope, and as an Executive Coach with people seeking support regarding jobs and careers.

My approach is fundamentally grounded in person-centred counselling. I believe that each person is different. The issues mentioned above may be universal, but you are unique. My role includes holding a mirror that enables you to become more self-aware and to work with you to figure out what you want and how to progress.

Feeling worried and struggling with what to do, being angry, fearful, hiding away, or using unhelpful means of distraction are reactions we all experience at some point in our life. Life is sometimes hard. I strive to help you make sense of what's going on and assist you to become unstuck.

The relationship we build is critical. I provide a safe, welcoming environment where trust can be carefully built. Clients say that what they appreciate is that I am a good listener, non-judgemental, and they feel comfortable opening up to talk about important personal matters. They appreciate the relationship which forms that enables honesty, compassion, challenge, authenticity, and humour to be present.

Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, bereavement, career challenges, or simply feeling stuck, I offer a grounded, authentic presence that meets you where you are and supports you in moving forward.
