Background

Hi, I’m Esther. Following on from working in a number of mental health, mentoring and helping roles, I entered the world of therapy!

I have been working as a Counsellor for 9 years and in that time have grown in knowledge and experience of how to meet the individual needs of clients. I love engaging with people from all walks of life, who are facing lots of different struggles.

Alongside my private work I also oversee an NHS talking therapies service, focussed on supporting people with mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. Short term therapy isn’t for everyone so I enjoy having the opportunity to offer mid to long term therapy for those who would benefit from that.

My passion is to see people flourish and have the support they need in the difficulties they face. Whether that is a difficult season in the present, feelings or fears about the future, or some deeper-rooted issues or past experiences, I believe that everybody can benefit from therapy.

My Approach

I understand that therapy can be a daunting prospect, so I try to create a friendly, warm and welcoming environment where you feel safe to share your story.

The style of therapy I use will vary from person to person depending on my clients own unique needs. I offer ‘person-centred counselling’ which focuses on offering a non-judgemental space, empathy and creating a good connection between myself and my clients. The idea is to explore what’s going on for you in a relationship you feel safe in, and at a pace that feels comfortable.

I also have experience working with a faith-based approach. For those with a Christian faith, I offer a space to discuss things from the Christian worldview but with somebody outside of their faith community.

I enjoy working creatively so will sometimes introduce objects or paper/post it notes into sessions to help explore things in more depth. This is great for visual learners or people who find it hard to just talk!
