Background
Hi, i'm Ash. I’m a psychodynamic counsellor offering in-person and online therapy to adults across Manchester. My approach is grounded in the belief that many of our present-day struggles are shaped by earlier experiences and unconscious patterns we may not even be aware of. Together, we’ll work to understand how these deeper influences shape your current thoughts, feelings, and relationships.
I have experience working in a range of mental health environments, including my current work in a hospice setting supporting clients facing bereavement and end-of-life experiences. This work has deepened my commitment to creating a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can explore your emotions safely and at your own pace.
As a non-binary practitioner, I work affirmatively with LGBTQ+ clients. I aim to create an inclusive space where identity and lived experience are met with sensitivity, respect, and understanding. My background in fine art has shaped my interest in the symbolic and unconscious aspects of emotional life, where meaning often emerges beyond what can be put into words.
My Approach
I specialise in psychodynamic counselling, which focuses on the idea that our current difficulties are often shaped by past relationships and unconscious emotional patterns. Therapy offers a space to bring those patterns into awareness so that you can begin to understand yourself more deeply and respond to challenges in new ways.
My style is warm, reflective, and collaborative. I work with care and curiosity, offering space for both gentle exploration and more focused insight into your emotional world. In particular, I am drawn to working with existential themes – such as meaning, identity, purpose, and loss – which often surface during times of transition or emotional uncertainty.
My goal is not to give advice or quick fixes, but to walk alongside you as we explore what truly matters to you – including the parts of your experience that may feel complex, unclear, or unresolved. Together, we can work towards developing clarity, create enduring emotional resilience, and move toward change that is both meaningful and lasting.
